What a great city. Prague is an amazing city. Everything here looks so different! I can't read anything, and I have no idea what I'm getting half the time... last night I wanted some juice, and ended up buying juice SYRUP. Which was quite a surprise off the first/last sip. Watched the world cup game at a hostel down the street on the projector, a lot of yelling and excitement at the end of the game... handball for the win? Play starts tomorrow, and our other american teammate Alex just got here. Today: Some walk around, player sign in?, throwing happy hour later as run by Sockeye (seattle club team), and trying to find something other than goulash!!!! to eat.

Welllllll..... Rome was awesome. After getting off the train from Florence, we went and found our hostel and hung out until it was time to go pick up Hannah at the train station, a thirty minute walk away. Then we went back and hung out after a long day of travelling for all of us. The next few days saw us go to the Colosseum, Forum, Pantheon, numerous Piazza's, churches, and finally the Vatican. Without the internet, no blog.... but now in Prague. Internet, great apartment, we ran into a bunch of players walking around today. This is going to be a great week. Gotta go get some beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer for dinner.

We've been having a great time. After last weekend's nonstop travel by bus, train, and moped, we've been hanging around Omar's house in Florence. A couple home cooked pasta meals, some boxed wine, some coffee, a walk to the store for some ice cream during Italy's loss to Slovakia. It's a blast to learn how the Italians live while living with them.

Last night was a Florence holiday for their patron saint, I think, and there was a solid 45 minutes of fireworks. We biked from Omar's to the dike on the Arno River. This took a while because every street was crowded with people out to watch. The bike they had given me to ride was a piece of shit too; everyone here has the oldest bikes ever. This one had been omar's grandpa's, and the other bike omar had was his dad's. Basically I couldn't pedal with a lot of effort that felt like the bike was breaking, but it was fun.

So today is Friday; I think we might take the train to the beach and go swimming, it's the hottest here. Tonight, another night on the town with Omar, then tomorrow we go to Rimini to scrimmage the other Italian team that is going to Worlds. I'm still kinda in shock over our numbers for Worlds; thirteen guys maybe! when every other team has close to thirty. But two games a day to 17 might not be as bad. Ha. Bad - It's going to be awesome. Our first game is against Clapham from the U.K., the ninth seed. Then we play skodjoruforussaours from Sweden, who is supposed to be better than the Skogs this year, the other Swedish team that is near the top in world rankings. Also in our pool is Fenix, from Mexico. We need to beat Mexico and the Swedish team in order to make it to power pools. You can check out the stuff here.

Missing all the friends and family back home! Please put any requests for Italian stuff in the comments. On the list for me: a belt, a moka, Ferrari shirt, and an Italian jersey.

What a night! Party til the break of dawn. Luigi has gone to Roma, so last night after the party we go to stay at Omar's, in more central Florence. Mom - Bischi. Hannah gets here Sunday sometime, and we're going to meet her in Rome and spend four days there until we fly to Prague on the first. I'm really excited to see everything and Hannah! In Prague the team has rented apartments in the downtown area, sounds awesome. Booyah!

A Day in Florence

Another great day! Chris and I slept in, got up and caught the bus into Florence where we walked around, ate some gelato, panini. Caught the France/S. Africa Mexico/Uruguay game at a pub, then took the bus to practice where we hung out with the team and did some drills. The heat is not to bad until you start to run around; maybe I just sweat more these days, but I was drenched.

Friday Night - AREZZO? Stayed in the middle of nowhere, then caught the tractor shot while waiting for the bus. Back to the train station and then off to Pisa, where we saw the leaning tower, visited the top, partied in the streets, drank Sambuca (licquerice flavored 42%), and laughed at everyone holding the tower up.

Took the motorini over to Lucca, a walled city, walked around the wall, ate some food. It was awesome. Very green.

The weather has been overcast with some sun.

After arriving at 9:30 in Roma, Chris and I took the train to Florence, (4 hours, slow train), and met up with the team at practice. This was interesting, because chris' phone wouldn't work, and we had only talked to max (our contact) briefly before flying, and we showed up an hour early, and no one was there. Then they showed up and we met the team and Luigi, who we were staying with. Practice was awesome, then back to Luigi's for some homemade carbonara. Today we took a bus to florence and walked around the duomo and other stuuffffffffffff. Then we took a train to Arrezo and are currently staying at a b&b style HOUSE for 45 euro total... a steal it seems like. Tomorrow is up in the air.... Sienna?

Powder day = 8 am start time. McD's is the best way to start a long day of skiing. Feels like spring here, with 40+ temps all week and maybe hitting 50 today. Next weekend is the pinhead classic, a telemarking party on the mountain with a dual slalom course set up. One day long party. Last year was a blast, $30 gets a shirt, pint glass, entry into a guaranteed raffle win, and dinner/party. Hopefully this year is the same. Last Friday I was playing disc golf in 3 feet of snow. Today I'm headed back to Anchorage for summer. Should be a good trip although it looks rainy.

Then, on a trip to boise for my second tournament out of the state of Alaska, we end up in front of the capital building. WTF? No, no, just the wrong set of directions printed from mapquest. Nate, Wixson, Hrabovinator, and I ~buzzed in downtown boise. I was still hauling around my camera everywhere taking pictures. Anyway, a 5 p.m. departure from bozeman means a ~ 1 a.m. arrival in boise on friday night; this is prime drunk people time. After finding some booze at a gas station, we pounded what we could and started walking around downtown. Got a philly cheese from a stand, chatted with some hotties who thought I was a photographer, and some random dude who gave me his business card and told me to start a blog. A what?

AND THEN IT WAS BORN.

Headed to sectionals this weekend. A combination of things has led us to a team chalk full of guys, no ladies, numbering nine. Round robin Saturday followed by a single elimination bracket on Sunday. Not sure how to approach this with only 9 guys... I think we're f'ed. So going to try to learn how to run some offense on Saturday... implement it on Sunday. We'll see...

Headed to walla walla this weekend for my 4th onionfest. Lot of highlights from this tournament in the past, mostly involving the party... I'm excited, though we are bringing a smaller team(~9 guys, 5 ladies) which isn't really that small, just not huge. Lots of PT.

Been rallying the moped around, it is FUN.

No idea when spring is going to roll around, had a sweeet couple runs Monday morning(14 INCHES!) and it snowed this morning. I'm hoping they extend the season a week; apparently bridger (national forest land) is a big nesting? area for migratory birds and hawks and shiiiiiit. So we can't ski there late in the season.still hoping ..... ONE MORE WEEK.

Bit of controversy(SHIT) going on over on forceflick. While I agree that Florida sucks to watch, you can't argue they know how to play when they aren't calling fouls. This is why I support refs. I guess.

Weekend Report

Girl Talk was pretty epic... sold out. I had a grin on my face the whole time, running into people left and right and basically just running around.

Skiing Saturday was not so epic. Extremely hungover/6 hours of sleep, I'm really not sure how I made it up to the mountain. But it was fun. Groomers, lots of groomers, then a spot in the sun somewhere for about an hour, thinking about napping, then a few more runs across the mountain.

We lost Adam our 3rd run in, he broke his binding, and later met him at the car at the end of the day.

Got a bit of a cold right now, body took a beating over the weekend. Still really warm here, rained last night, super windy right now...

I'm going to cook some food, play some xbox, and then go back up to school and do some homework.

Bridger SNOW - POW!

Snowed today, made it up before class to ski the 5" of fluff... awesome. This is a pic from Saturday with Adam. We hiked up the saddle and skied down. Pretty awesome day. I've skied the last 4/5 days. The best part about having a pass is the ability to go up for a couple hours a day and not having to worry about spending all that money and not using your pass to the fullest. Real Nice.

Let's see.. practice last night was a sad affair, only 10 people... played 3v3 make it take it, something new, definitely a lot more running. It was good. Assessing interest in a west coast PLU BBQ tournament the first weekend of our spring break. Got 5 or so that are interested, so that might happen. Which means another drive to the coast, I think I'm coming close to double digits.

Going to see Girl Talk this friday at the fairgrounds. Should be a lot of fun.

Vegas was out of control... Thursday night, 4:45, a.m., enter Reid and A-Mac.

"Where the fuck is TYGHE! It's time to GAMBLE!"

"LETS GO!"

This was followed by adam taking a seat and Reid hurling a half eaten egg mcmuffin at adam.

If you're going to wake me up at 4:45, you better do it like adam and reid.

Immediately after hurling the egg mcmuff... Reid grabs his back and mumbles "fuck... I think i just pulled my back."

Then he finally notices Camas and I sleeping on the bed. Which he thought was hilarious; the open bed camas could have slept in was completely empty. Why you wanna sleep with me, Camas? Reid tore off all of the sheets and then just laughed at us.

After this fiasco, A-Mac went to bed and Reid went out and won $600 bucks. We picked him up at 7:30 on the way to the fields.

I love going to Vegas.

Vegas coming up... starting to figure out who's driving and who's riding where... blach. Old pic from 2 years ago. Adam in the foreground rocking the 'stache. Thought we were going to be screwed on hotel rates because I procrastinated so long on getting rooms(got them yesterday), but turned out to be better than alright. The tourney rate CULTIMATE locked down for teams was something like 40, 80, 80, for thur, fri, sat. We got a deal that was 35, 45, 45, AND we upgraded to the jr. suite... now lets just hope the elevators can hold us all.

This will be the 4th vegas for our team. There a 3 people who have gone everyyear, Adam, Camas, and myself. Crazy, I'm excited to bring the two freshman we have to Vegas... They're in for a treat.

Can't stomach the roadkill... Here's some picks from the spring. Brett and Shorty paddling the Big Hole... sweet overnight trip down 30 miles of river. We had to drive between the take out/put in on this back country road in the middle of nowhere, and ran into the Big Sky Rocketry club out shooting off their first rockets of the season. Montana PBS was out there covering the event, I snapped a few pictures and we were out of there. I like the bigger-than-me rocket and the patriotic flag hat. My kind of rocket club.

I went for the creeping-on-you angle when I was taking these. Looks like pretty fun stuff. They said their highest rocket on the day was going to be... I forgot. Mile, couple of miles, they definitely meant business.

Chem test today. It's getting cold here. I filled up my bike tire yesterday at the gas station... decided to max it out... not the greatest idea. It worked great until I brought my bike inside for the night. I thought someone got shot. My tire blew up at 3 in the morning and scared the shit out of everyone. So I'm riding the mountain bike which needs some work done. This is a pic of one unlucky buffalo in Canada (yukon?). Kyle doesn't think it smells very good.

Regionals went well. Got into Corvallis around 8, went to dinner with the team/missoula, then passed out back in the hotel room. Saturday morning we played Hunzicker Proxy, or all of Bill's friends on another team. Meh, we came out flat, never a morning team, and didn't play very well. They beat us. Second round, Mischief. They came out running hard and shut us down. I think we scored four. Night Train third round. I hate these guys. They aren't fun, they aren't great, but if you don't take the time to beat them, they'll beat you. And we took our time. The game had a really lazy feel to it, definitely thought we were losing (which we were) but we were only down one most of the game. Threw out the all star lines the last few points and came out with the win on universe point. I played some D, some O, but when we had to score I played O with Adam... it was fun. Downfield we saw a lot of the same cuts to the same place which saw Adam and I work it/ play catch until something opened up. Last game of the day, Triceratops... young, hard running, tri to hard... turn it over. They gave us a lot of turns, which was nice... but we didn't do a great job of capitalizing... I threw a big forehand to Adam for the win.

2-2 on saturday. Our pool was jacked. 3 teams 1-2, Mischief 3-0, I'm going to put this one on Carleton for tanking their game against Night Train. Too many bladey flicks from Seth? Point dif goes to Carleton anyway, and we get last. Sunday I had two huge hammers right on the money for goals... big 40 yarder to Adam going away to the break, and another one. I forgot how much I can procrastinate when I'm updating this blog. I feel productive when I update, but I'm not really doing anything that will help me in school. I got a call last thursday from some secretary at Northwest Mutual, some regional manager guy wants to take me out to lunch because I run the Ultimate club here... I have no idea what he wants, but I know I want some free lunch, so I'm going. Little reminder to myself, it's Tuesday at 1 across from Kenyon Noble. What to wear...

So far everyone is loving the party pics from the 22nd. I want to say thanks to everyone who came and made it the tight party that it was, especially to Fozzy (for the keg), Tomas (for the Patron), and Curry for the tequila and rum.

I see us scoring 5 on Mischief, 5 on Dave's Proxy, and beating that other team in front of us. We'll see tho, some new pickups for regionals might help us out. Pictures from HAARP? Can't seem to remember. I was told this was the most powerful radar array in the world. Not the largest, but the most powerful. Each one of those antenna were built on pilings built at Arctic Foundations. This is what I spend my summer doing. If you look at the bottom picture you can see what we call a lollipop sticking out of the side of the piling. It's actually a radiator. Anyway, where it comes together and goes toward the piling is a weld. Before I got there, there were 80 that needed to be painted. So I painted. This place is in the middle of nowhere.
I've figured out how to schedule posts for the future.... tight.

This blog has been the same for months... sorry. I think the last post said something about me being really lazy... nothing has changed much since then, although now I'm busy with school and lazy. Finally uploaded pics from the summer, including nationals, the drive home, the birthday party,HARRP, and the drive back. Expect these to be coming in the future... or not. I don't want anyone expecting big things from this blog.
I'm going to Oregon this weekend for regionals. Should be a horrible amount of driving and a great tournament. Looking forward to seeing Remi, Tomas, Seth, and Will. Probably see a few others that will be a pleasant surprise. We're playing them first game saturday.

Lame. I officially cede to chris the title of better blogger than bill. People have complained I don't publish enough. They also want something funny. F*** you. Get your own blog. I want to talk shit on your blogs, and I'm going to start by cooking up some rice and coming at AC's poor attempt at blogging. I still check it every other day or so, but it hasn't been updated since june. Sure, it was summer, sure I think cale is back at school and has no more excuses. How about some of the girls get blogs? huh? wtf... I feel like I've never been to Michigan. I haven't. BUT - maybe Liz could entice us with some party pictures and stories of steamy nights in snow caves. Instead I'm scared away by snow leopards and abominable snow men who I believe live near Ho-town. ahhh, the power of imagination.
Hannah and Alyssa left me a sweet message last night, but when I opened my junk mail, noticed a new comment on the blog I haven't touched in months, I had a thought. Why doesn't anyone blog hammered drunk? there is plenty of booze out there. I personally still have some crown royal left from sweet dealings at the border. Why don't people sit down with a fifth of crown, and BLOG? we could call it a puzzle blog, and try to decipher what the hell they were thinking. We could put a prompt in the comments section for the next entry. Not generic motherly comments that I get. Example. "Bill - glad to see you're alive. Call us. Looks like you're having fun, don't forget to study." - I'm not saying I don't enjoy knowing you're glad I am alive. I do. I also need a reminder to study. I'm in the library right now. But I'm not studying. I'm blogging like a champ who retired and then with the new season approaching decides he doesn't know what to do with his life and comes back to the game and is old and plays for some team nobody cares about and then relies on his defense to get him points and is intercepted twice.
I wish I was drunk. Then this whole rant could be the beginning of drunken blogging rather than an attempt to waste time before class. Remember - before you complain about a lack of pictures (I still look pretty good. Thanks, gene pool.) and infrequent posts, know I'm doing this for you. and you. and you. I think that'll cover everyone reading the blog.

Well, I'm back in Anchorage. Just had a great weekend with Will, Christina, and Anna-Karin... the weather could have been better. Heading to pick up in an hour or so...

The drive back was beautiful again. We made it back in 59 hours. New record. There's a bunch of places we could have stopped and enjoyed, but I just didn't want to look at Iain's face any more than I had to. I still think the best part of the drive is the last 250 miles coming into Anchorage on the Tok Cutoff/Glenn highway. Easily the most impressive set of mountains and terrain on the whole trip.

Animals.... a couple porcupines, moose, deer, and 7 bears. We saw six bears within an hour on the second day of driving, they were out and about.

The most we paid for gas was $1.45 a liter.
Future Plans;

I'm headed to the cabin tonight, help out a little with the hot tub/sauna complex that's going in. Then back into to town Monday, bed early. Starting work 7 a.m. Tuesday. Then Fairbanks on the weekend... Sombrero Hat tourney. This will be my 3rd Fairbanks Hat in a row... I love it. I always feel like a celebrity when I go to FBX. I think they like me up there. After that, I've got no plans in place, just twiddlin' the thumbs until MCK gets back to AK.

I'll have pictures for you sometime, I've just been lazy, I'm surprised this post went this far.

Sweden Rocks!

Well I'm done. It's been an awesome weekend of minimal commitments and drinking, beer pong, and nice weather. And by nice weather, I mean yesterday. It was sweet. After going 8-1 on the night at beer pong, losing in our last game to Wixson and Devin in overtime, I went to bed. Woke up Saturday and went running for the first time in quite a while. It was good. Knees felt great, the trail was sweet, and it was awesome. Made me feel productive on a day where I didn't do anything. Hanging out with C-Unit G and Anna K was tight too.

Big plans: Drinking on the porch tomorrow night with the new roommates, and maybe some old ones.

Driving to Boulder Thursday with Iain and Thor, hopefully picking up Megan on the way.

Watching college Nationals. - I'm psyched for this. It's going to be awesome... weather is supposed to be really good, and Chris and Kal will be there tearing it up on CUT and Sunburn, respectively.

Driving home - I think I'm going to drive through Washington and spend the first night in Bellingham, then cruise on up. Leave the 19th, home by the 25th. Maybe sooner.

Then work - Sounds like I'll be busy, 60 hours a week or something.

Going to try to make it to Fairbanks too... First weekend of work, hope I can get Saturday off. If I make it, this will be my 3rd Fairbanks hat in a row...

I was gonna blog about something... oh yeah.

I think I've found out where all the hot chicks stay warm here. Like elusive kittens seeking warmth in the dead of winter, they disappear and are rarely seen, and only by setting up tree blinds and combat fishing at bars can you catch a glimpse.

My previous hypothesis was that the horrible (or HARrible for Brett) guy/girl ratio contributed to all the girls being taken, and they kept these girls in basements and closets, only let out to beautify Bozeman in the fall and spring with sun dresses, skirts, and skin... Never been here in the summer. This, combined with other factors, keeps the kittens out of sight. But not out of mind.

My revised hypothesis, came about through recent observations today. I am at the library. It's nice here. There is a fountain that sounds relaxing and soothing. It makes you want to pee. It's just awesome. There is a coffee bar. Free Wi-Fi. Quiet. Chairs. Windows. Heat.

For those of you who haven't been hunting for kittens, you may not be aware; This is the killing grounds. It only has eligible and trophy kittens. No old crippled kittens, ugly kittens, or high school kittens. Simply hot, studious kittens.

So, April 5th has rolled around and Bozeman got a nice new coating of puff puff... I'm upset, as this seems to keep happening.

But Brett and I, along with two other brave souls, are going to battle the weather this weekend a little farther
south and go on an overnight canoe trip. I'm looking forward to it, nice to get away from the 5 day grind, 2 day binge attitude. Here's a pic of Kal, back in '06 up at the cabin. Below is snow covered Hyalite from a month ago.

The weather here sucks. Snowed yesterday, 32 degrees today, but I'm hopeful that it won't snow tomorrow. Congrats to Chris... CUT won sectionals yet again.

Hey all... Intramurals was supposed to start today, but with the current blizzard happening and the snow we received saturday it looks like they'll probably cancel it unless the sun jumps out and does its job. Hopefully the team will get outside before sectionals next weekend.

Onionfest 2008

Nothing like driving through a few blizzards and snowstorms and general hell to get to a tournament. Onionfest 2008 was, as far as the weather goes, crazy. Worst weekend to travel evah. Will decided we needed to go Monday, sent the bid in Monday night, and got a team together. 8 guys, 4 girls, a lot of fun. Team name: Seahorse. One of the only species on the planet where the male gets pregnant.
Anyway, due to our late bid, we were seed 14th out of twenty, and second in pool D. Saturday morning we got to the fields about 15 min early and threw around waiting for the other team to show. A strong crosswind blew across our field all day and we definitely took advantage of the horrible teams in our pool. First game we came up looking to huck often so as to avoid giving the teams easy goals from turnovers on our goal line. So... huge hammer to Will right in the breadbasket, dropped. Turn, we score, continue to 13-4. Next game, we feel slightly intimidated as the other team all have patagonia jerseys and they're red. We play better intimidated, and win 13-1, after giving up a goal at 12-0. Damn. Next game, we play the third seed in our pool, hoping for a better game than the 4th and 5th seeds gave us. No such luck, 13-1. Last game we play a team we've been seeing around for years, still shitty though, and we own again, 13-4. Our offense was ran by dominating around the disc and looking for big hucks from me off nice set ups by camas and wixson. Brett, Buetow, Burrows all played strong as cutters. Our girls also were very good.
Ran over to get some burritos from the burrito wagon, amazing, then watched showcase game. Good game, Whitman played well against a northfield team that seemed like a more depleted team than last year.Whitman's offense ran well with jeremy norden and loeffler owning. Anyway good showcase, but it was cold.

Went to the party.

Slept.

Sunday - We moved into the prequarters with our 4-0 saturday, setting us up to play the Parkland Hoodlums, a PLU alumn current mix. With a snowstorm in progress, we pulled to start the game. This game was a rematch of 2006 onionfest, where the most hungover Rum runners team was trying to make it past PLU to the quarters. It didn't happen. This time was different, and we came out zoney. In the snow with no easy deep throws, we shut them down. It was a good game, both teams running a little bit, but after going 0-5 on saturday, parkland felt like going 0-6, and we helped them out, winning 10-6 as the rounds were shortened because people was scared ah d snowzzz. Seahorse advances to quarters with a record of 5-0.
Fast and Nasty was waiting. Or, not really. Jokes were told, mostly about us starting to assess points, and then we took the field. they won their pool yesterday. Wee did too, but they had more competition. We felt like underdogs going in and I think it might have hurt us. We played a really good game had them at 7's, then choked and gave it away 11-7. A consolation game was not to be played between us and Northfield, although I would have liked to, but shitty weather scared us and we hit the road, only driving through a few snowstorms.

Another pick pic from hyalite, It was an amazing day the road was a little sketchy, but nothing a heavy foot couldn't handle in brett's jeep. Not much going in bozeman these days as everyones back in the grind after spring break. Blizzard this morning was ridiculous; I'm upset because it's going to postpone us getting outside, and will probably shorten the intramural season.

We're coming back as the defending champs, but I think I'm going to be the only returning member. This year I'm bringing together the house, with myself, will B, brett, and wixson forming the core. Need another guy or two, and 2 girls who'll show up every game and stand around/play/get laughed at. We were known as bread & butter last year, and this year we continuing along the same lines with FRESH TOASTED.
